President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the sustained development of Nigeria’s maritime industry, stressing the need for the sector to make greater contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The President gave the assurance when he received the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, in audience at the State House, Abuja.
During the meeting, Mobereola briefed the President on developments within NIMASA over the past two years, highlighting progress recorded by the Agency as well as challenges confronting Nigeria’s maritime industry.
Tinubu said the establishment of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy was a deliberate move by his administration to unlock the vast potential of the maritime sector and position it as a stronger contributor to the Nigerian economy.
The President commended NIMASA for the progress recorded so far but charged Mobereola and the Agency’s management team to sustain the momentum and intensify efforts towards advancing the development of the sector.
