The Commander of the Materials Clearing and Inspection Office (MCIO), Nigerian Navy Apapa, Captain U.S. Akoh, has called for enhanced inter-agency collaboration during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command in Lagos.
The visit, which took place recently, focused on strengthening cooperation between the Nigerian Navy and the NCS in key operational areas, including port security, cargo monitoring, and information sharing within the maritime sector.
Speaking during the engagement, Captain Akoh stressed the importance of sustained synergy among government agencies, describing them as interdependent units working toward a common national goal.

He commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its professionalism and contributions to trade facilitation and revenue generation, noting that effective collaboration remains critical to safeguarding Nigeria’s economic interests.
The Customs Area Controller of the KLT Command, in his response, welcomed the Navy delegation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the Nigerian Navy and other partner agencies.
He emphasised the need for continued cooperation to enhance security, ensure compliance, and promote efficient port operations.
Both agencies highlighted the role of coordinated efforts in achieving seamless trade processes and maintaining safety within the maritime domain.

The visit concluded with an exchange of plaques, symbolising mutual respect and a renewed commitment to deeper collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Customs Service.
