Nigeria Customs Service Trains Officers in Apapa on Life-Saving First Aid Techniques

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has launched a comprehensive basic first aid training program for its officers and men.

The training, led by the Service’s medical team, aims to equip personnel with essential life-saving skills and enhance workplace safety.

Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, the Apapa Command’s leader, emphasized the importance of first aid knowledge, particularly in high-risk operational environments.

He noted that timely interventions, such as CPR and bleeding control, can significantly impact outcomes in emergency situations.

Oshoba encouraged officers to take the training seriously, stressing that it could mean the difference between life and death.

The training covered various topics, including CPR, choking relief, stroke recognition, and treatment of gunshot wounds, bone, and joint injuries.

Participants had the opportunity to practice hands-on techniques, ensuring they are better prepared to respond to emergencies.

The Zonal Medical Officer, Comptroller A.S. Aku, led the medical team and emphasized the importance of remaining calm and acting quickly in emergency situations.

He presented a Customs Medical Corps First Aid manual to Comptroller Oshoba, highlighting the Service’s commitment to enhancing the skills of its personnel.

The training is part of the Nigeria Customs Service’s efforts to prioritize staff welfare and operational readiness.

By empowering its officers with life-saving skills, the Service aims to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure a safer working environment.
