Dangote Cement to Commission 3Mta Grinding Plant in Côte d’Ivoire

Dangote Cement, Africa’s leading cement producer, has announced plans to commission a 3 million metric tons per annum (Mta) grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire by the third quarter of this year.

The plant is expected to strengthen the company’s position in Africa and contribute significantly to its exports.

The company’s Chief Executive, Arvind Pathak, revealed that export volumes from Nigeria increased by 18.2% in the second quarter, with 18 successful clinker shipments made to Ghana and Cameroon.

This growth demonstrates the company’s commitment to regional trade and self-sufficiency.

Pathak also highlighted the company’s focus on cost containment and operational efficiency, which has delivered tangible results.

Dangote Cement has begun the phased delivery of 1,600 additional Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks, which will significantly reduce logistics costs and enhance environmental efficiency.

The company reported impressive financial results for the second quarter, with Group EBITDA rising by 41.8% to ₦944.9 billion and Group profit surging by 174.1%. This performance is attributed to the company’s disciplined execution, strong cost leadership, and strategic investments.

Dangote Cement has a production capacity of 35.25Mta in Nigeria and 52.0Mta across Africa. The company has operations in several countries, including Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Ghana, Ethiopia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.

Its recent investments have eliminated Nigeria’s dependence on imported cement and transformed the nation into an exporter of cement and clinker.

The commissioning of the 3Mta grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire is expected to further strengthen Dangote Cement’s position in Africa and contribute to its export growth.

The company’s focus on operational efficiency, cost containment, and strategic investments has delivered impressive financial results and positioned it for long-term success.
