Modernizing Operations: Customs Launches B’Odogwu in Area II Command, Port Harcourt 

The Nigeria Customs Service has taken a significant step towards modernizing Customs operations with the launch of its Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), also known as B’Odogwu.

The system was introduced at the Port Harcourt II Customs Area Command and aims to enhance compliance, facilitate trade, and optimize revenue collection.

Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, the Customs Area Controller, highlighted the benefits of the new system, stating that it will facilitate efficient and timely clearance of goods, reducing delays and costs for businesses.

The system is a testament to the Service’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve operations.

The Command witnessed the historic release of the first Single Goods Declaration (SGD) on the B’Odogwu platform, marking a significant milestone in the implementation of the new system. The SGD was released with reference number C1202505PN.

Mr. Iroegbu Samuel, an agent, praised the system’s efficiency and flexibility, noting that it is an improvement over the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICISS II).

He encouraged stakeholders to adopt the new system, citing its numerous advantages.

The Customs Area Controller has invited stakeholders and the general public to key into the B’Odogwu technology to experience its benefits and join the Service in its quest to transform Customs operations in Nigeria.

The introduction of B’Odogwu marks a significant step towards modernizing Customs operations in Nigeria.

With its potential to enhance compliance, facilitate trade, and optimize revenue collection, the system is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy.
