In a bid to drive the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has completed a 5-day training program for 100 youths in Ebonyi State.
The training focused on modern methods of electrical installations and maintenance, with the aim of creating wealth and employment opportunities for Nigerian youths.
The training, which took place at Remeritona Hotel and Suites Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, from November 26 to 29, 2024, covered advanced topics such as electrical wiring installation, appliance repair, solar power installation, electrical panel maintenance, safety inspections, and upgrading of electrical systems.
According to the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the agency is contributing to economic growth, creating an enabling environment for skill development, and poverty alleviation through this training program.
Halilu noted that the training is inspired by President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope 8-Point Agenda, which focuses on ending poverty, economic growth, job creation, food security, access to capital, improved security, enabling environment, rule of law, and the fight against corruption.
The training program is expected to guarantee employability and economic opportunities for the youths, meet industry demands, ensure safety and compliance, and promote energy efficiency, skill development, and community development.
The youths were also handed over startup kits containing modern electrical tools, including face shields, earmuffs, hard hats, coveralls, insulated gloves, safety boots, and safety eye goggles, among others.
In his address, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Elija Okwu Oko Udu, commended NASENI for the training program, stating that it is a clear manifestation of the state’s vision to create opportunities for every Ebonyi youth to succeed and contribute meaningfully to society.
The training programme is the third in the South-East zone, with previous programmes taking place in Anambra State on solar installation and maintenance and Imo State, respectively.
With this programme, NASENI is pushing the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu’s administration, aimed at creating wealth and employment opportunities for Nigerian youths.
