NDIC Wins Verbatim Integrity Award After Strong ICPC Scorecard Showing

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has received the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award from Verbatim Magazine for its commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability.

The award was presented at the 2026 Verbatim Awards organised by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja.

The NDIC emerged as the second-best performing organisation in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) conducted by the ICPC, which formed the basis for the recognition.

The award was received on behalf of the NDIC Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Ms. Hawwau Gambo.

The EICS is an integrity assessment framework developed by the ICPC to measure ethical standards, accountability and anti-corruption practices across Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The assessment covers four major areas: management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative systems, and anti-corruption initiatives.

Speaking at the ceremony, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director, Systems Study and Review Department, Olusegun Adigun, delivered a keynote address titled, “The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity.”

Receiving the award, Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for recognising the NDIC’s performance based on the ICPC’s independently validated integrity scorecard.

She said the recognition would further strengthen the Corporation’s resolve to maintain high standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance.

According to her, the NDIC remains committed to effectively delivering its mandates of deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, failure resolution and bank liquidation.

Gambo added that the award reflected the Corporation’s sustained efforts to maintain stakeholder confidence while contributing to the stability of Nigeria’s financial system.

The recognition, she said, would also serve as an incentive for the NDIC to deepen compliance with professional and ethical standards as it continues to protect depositors and promote confidence in the banking sector.
