FEWACCI Presidency: Jani Ibrahim Charts New Economic Frontiers for Nigeria, West Africa

By Newsshelve correspondent.

Engr. Jani Ibrahim has described his election as President of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI) as a significant opportunity to strengthen Nigeria’s economic influence and deepen private-sector cooperation across West Africa.

Ibrahim spoke when executives of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) paid him a courtesy visit at his office at the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

He was elected President of FEWACCI in September at the federation’s 11th Annual General Assembly in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, after serving as National President of NACCIMA since June 2025.

The FEWACCI presidency places Ibrahim at the head of a regional network of chambers representing the interests of businesses and private-sector stakeholders across West Africa.

For Nigeria, the development provides an opportunity to further project the country’s private-sector interests within the regional economic space, while strengthening collaboration on trade, investment, industrial development and business growth.

Ibrahim’s emergence also comes at a time when deeper regional economic integration and stronger private-sector participation are increasingly important to unlocking the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Speaking to the FiBOP delegation, Ibrahim highlighted the broader responsibilities that come with the position and the opportunity to use the regional platform to advance economic cooperation among West African countries.

His dual role as President of NACCIMA and FEWACCI gives him a platform to link Nigeria’s business community with chambers and private-sector organisations across the region, potentially facilitating stronger partnerships, investment flows and cross-border trade.

The development also underscores the growing role of chambers of commerce as platforms for connecting government, businesses and investors in driving regional economic development.
