NIMASA, Nigerian Navy Deepen Collaboration on Maritime Security

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Navy to enhance maritime security, safety and environmental protection across Nigeria’s territorial waters.

The commitment was made when officers and men of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Quorra visited the NIMASA Operational Base in Kirikiri, Lagos, on a study tour designed to deepen their understanding of maritime laws, safety regulations and the Agency’s statutory responsibilities.

The visit also aimed to foster stronger cooperation between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy in the discharge of their complementary roles within Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Speaking during the visit, NIMASA’s Director of Marine Environment Management, Dr. Oma Ofodile, who received the delegation, reiterated the Agency’s resolve to sustain inter-agency collaboration as a key strategy for promoting maritime safety, security and environmental stewardship.

She noted that closer cooperation between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy would strengthen efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s maritime domain and improve coordination in addressing emerging challenges within the nation’s waters.

The study tour forms part of ongoing efforts by both institutions to build capacity, enhance knowledge sharing and reinforce partnerships aimed at ensuring a safer and more secure maritime environment.
