The Kano State Government has unveiled the official jersey for the Cycling Kano 2025 event, ahead of the cycling competition scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 20.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Wednesday at the office of the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports and Youth Development, Sani Musa Danja.
The jersey features colours and design elements reflecting Kano State’s cultural heritage and identity, and will be worn by participants during the event.
The Cycling Kano initiative is part of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s efforts to promote sports development, youth engagement and healthy living across the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Senior Special Adviser on Sports and Youth Development, Sani Danja, described the initiative as a key component of the state government’s strategy to encourage grassroots sports participation and active lifestyles among residents.
According to him, the event goes beyond competition, serving as a platform to promote wellness, discipline and social interaction, while positioning Kano as a centre for sporting activities.
The state government also commended sponsors, partners and stakeholders for their support in organising the event and called on residents to participate and support the cyclists.
The Cycling Kano 2025 event is scheduled to commence at 7:00 a.m. from the Emir’s Palace in Kano. The government said adequate security and medical arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants and spectators.
Cycling Kano is a state-backed initiative aimed at promoting cycling as a sport, a fitness activity and an environmentally friendly means of transportation, while fostering unity and youth empowerment across Kano State.
The 2025 edition of the event is sponsored by the Kano State Government, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), with additional support from Peak Yogurt and CWAY.
