DataPro Webinar: Uzoka-Anite Unveils Nigeria’s Roadmap to $1trn Economy by 2030

Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, says Nigeria is targeting investment-grade sovereign credit status by 2030 as part of its ambition to build a $1 trillion economy.

Uzoka-Anite stated this on Thursday at the 2026 International Credit Rating Webinar organised by DataPro Limited, themed “Achieving Investment-Grade Rating by 2030: The Roadmap for Nigeria.”

She said achieving the target would require stronger public finances, sustainable debt management, economic diversification, increased private investment and credible institutions.

According to her, Nigeria’s economy grew by 3.87 per cent in 2025, while the International Monetary Fund projected 4.1 per cent growth for 2026.

She said ongoing reforms, including changes to fuel subsidies, foreign exchange management and tax administration, were aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability and boosting revenue.

Under the proposed National Development Plan (NDP) 2026–2030, government revenue is projected to rise from 11.15 per cent of GDP in 2025 to 18.70 per cent by 2030, while public debt is expected to decline from 36.07 per cent to 18.83 per cent of GDP.

The plan also targets average annual real GDP growth of 7.79 per cent over the period, with economic output approaching $1 trillion by 2030.

Uzoka-Anite identified agriculture, manufacturing, solid minerals, digital services, energy and logistics as key sectors for driving diversification and productivity.

She added that achieving the targets would depend on improved infrastructure, reliable energy supply, policy consistency and effective coordination across government.

The minister stressed that Nigeria’s credit-rating ambitions must translate into better living standards, job creation and inclusive economic growth.
