MAGGI Reaches 19,670 Women in South-East Through Expanded 2026 August Meeting

MAGGI, the culinary brand of Nestlé Nigeria, has reached 19,670 women across the South-East through its expanded participation in the 2026 August Meeting celebrations.

The initiative, which took place across five South-East states, involved partnerships with 30 women’s associations and five market activations, more than doubling the brand’s participation compared with the previous year.

August Meeting is an annual tradition among women in the South-East, providing a platform for discussions on family and community issues, cultural celebrations and social engagement.

As part of this year’s programme, MAGGI hosted receptions featuring cooking competitions, music, gifts and appearances by Nollywood actresses Ruby Ojiakor, Blessing Obasi and Blessing Onwukwe, all of whom have roots in the region.

Food and nutrition formed a major part of the engagement, with culinary sessions introducing participants to new approaches to familiar meals while cooking competitions allowed women to demonstrate their skills and creativity.

The brand also organised practical nutrition sessions focused on making nutritious food choices within household budgets.

The sessions highlighted the importance of balanced and diverse diets, micronutrients such as iron and practical approaches to family meal planning. Participants were also introduced to the role fortified foods can play as part of a varied diet, including MAGGI products fortified with iron.

Speaking on the initiative, Funmi Osineye, Category Manager, Culinary, Nestlé Nigeria, said the August Meeting provided an opportunity to celebrate the role of women in strengthening families, preserving traditions and contributing to community development.

“August Meeting is a powerful expression of the role women play in strengthening families, preserving traditions and driving progress in their communities,” Osineye said.

She added that the engagement was particularly significant as MAGGI marks 60 years in Nigeria, describing it as an opportunity to celebrate women who have been part of the brand’s journey while providing culinary inspiration and practical nutrition knowledge.

Meanwhile, Blessing Onwukwe, who participated in the celebrations in Enugu and Ebonyi states, described the experience as memorable.

“Joining the 2026 August Meeting celebrations in Enugu and Ebonyi States was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed every moment and am truly glad to have had the opportunity to be part of the celebrations in both states,” she said.

Christianna Nwibo, an executive of the Catholic Women Organization, Nwofe, Ebonyi State, also commended the initiative.

“We really enjoyed the MAGGI experience at our August Meeting. The food was delicious, the gifts were wonderful, and we had such a good time,” she said.

Nestlé Nigeria said the 2026 engagement builds on MAGGI’s longstanding relationship with Nigerian consumers, particularly women, through food, community and cultural platforms.

The company said the initiative also reflects MAGGI’s efforts to remain relevant to younger generations while celebrating the people, food and traditions that have shaped its 60-year journey in Nigeria.
