Nigeria’s tax reforms, trade facilitation, capital market development and financial regulation will take centre stage as top government officials, regulators and business leaders converge in Lagos for the 2026 Annual Conference and Awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP).
The two-day conference, scheduled for October 17–18, 2026, at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, will feature the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, as keynote speaker, while the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama, will attend as Special Guests.
The conference will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Dr. Muda Yusuf, while the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Mrs. Bola Odukale, will serve as Guest Speaker.
Also confirmed as a Special Guest is the Chairman of NGX Group, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga.
The conference, themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade & Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision,” is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to examine policy and business strategies capable of strengthening Nigeria’s economic growth.
Discussions at the event are expected to focus on taxation, revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, capital market development, investor protection, insurance, financial regulation, fintech and investment.
The organisers said the participation of senior officials from key economic and regulatory institutions would deepen conversations on the impact of ongoing reforms and the role of the private sector in driving sustainable economic development.
Several major institutions, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Zenith Bank and Polaris Bank, among others, have also confirmed participation.
According to FiBOP, the broad institutional representation reflects the conference’s focus on bringing government, regulators, businesses, investors and the media together to examine practical solutions to some of the challenges confronting Nigeria’s business environment.
The two-day programme will feature high-level discussions, expert sessions and stakeholder engagements, culminating in the FiBOP Awards, which will recognise individuals and organisations for contributions to economic development, business growth, financial services, capital market development, technology and other areas of national development.
Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee, Barnabas Esiet, said FiBOP was focused on making the conference a platform for substantive engagement rather than discussions alone.
Esiet said the calibre of speakers and participants confirmed for the event demonstrates the association’s commitment to promoting informed conversations on policies and developments shaping Nigeria’s economic future.
FiBOP President, Charles Onwuatogwu, commended the institutions and personalities that have confirmed their participation, saying their presence would add depth to the conference.
He urged stakeholders across the financial and business ecosystem to look forward to two days of dialogue, networking and recognition of excellence, as FiBOP continues to promote responsible business journalism and contribute to national economic development.
