MAGGI has intensified efforts to promote food quality and safety awareness by engaging key stakeholders across its value chain through a series of immersive activities held to commemorate World Food Safety Day.
The initiative brought together suppliers, distributors, consumers, journalists, and digital content creators in a bid to enhance understanding of the processes, partnerships, and standards that underpin the production and distribution of MAGGI products in Nigeria.
According to the company, the engagements were designed to provide stakeholders with firsthand insights into the journey of MAGGI products from raw ingredients to consumers’ tables, while reinforcing the shared responsibility required to maintain food quality and safety.
During the programme, suppliers were exposed to MAGGI’s quality requirements and manufacturing standards, while distributors received guidance on best practices for product handling, storage, and warehousing to ensure product quality is preserved throughout the distribution chain. Consumers also interacted directly with experts, gaining deeper knowledge of the ingredients, production processes, and expertise behind MAGGI products.
A major highlight of the initiative was a guided tour of the Nestlé Nigeria Agbara Factory, where journalists and digital content creators traced the production journey of a MAGGI cube from locally sourced soya beans to the finished product.
Participants observed how soya beans supplied by Nigerian farmers are transformed through controlled fermentation processes and modern manufacturing technologies to produce the flavour, consistency, and quality associated with the MAGGI brand.

The factory visit also showcased the link between traditional African food preparation methods and contemporary food manufacturing. Visitors learned how fermentation techniques employed in MAGGI production draw inspiration from traditional local seasonings such as iru, dawadawa, and ogiri.
The tour further provided an opportunity for participants to witness the quality assurance and food safety measures embedded throughout the production process. These include ingredient sourcing and testing, manufacturing controls, packaging procedures, and distribution standards aimed at ensuring product safety and quality at every stage.
Speaking during the engagement, Category Manager, Culinary, Nestlé Nigeria, Funmi Osineye, said MAGGI’s extensive value chain makes stakeholder collaboration critical to maintaining quality and food safety standards.
She noted that the company remains committed to creating opportunities for dialogue and transparency, enabling stakeholders to better understand the ingredients, expertise, and processes that contribute to the quality consumers have come to trust.
Also speaking, Factory Manager of Nestlé Nigeria Agbara Factory, Talla Fall, said quality and food safety remain central to the company’s operations, from raw material sourcing and testing to manufacturing and packaging.

According to him, the stakeholder engagements offer an opportunity to demonstrate the rigorous processes, expertise, and care that go into the production of every MAGGI product.
The programme also featured an interactive cooking session, allowing participants to experience the practical use of MAGGI products in meal preparation. The session generated discussions on taste, nutrition, quality, and responsible product use.
Nestlé Nigeria said the initiative reflects MAGGI’s commitment to strengthening transparency, building stakeholder confidence, and delivering quality products that support consumers in preparing nutritious and tasty meals.
