NIMASA Appoints Commodore Adoki as Maritime Guard Command Commander

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced the appointment of Commodore Reginald Odeodi Adoki as the new Commander of its Maritime Guard Command (MGC).

The appointment was approved by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Idi Abbas, with Commodore Adoki taking over from Commodore H.C. Oriekeze, who has been redeployed.

Commodore Adoki, a Principal Warfare Officer specialising in communications and intelligence, brings over 25 years of experience in the Nigerian Navy, spanning training, staff and operational roles.

As a seaman, he has commanded NNS Andoni, NNS Kyanwa and NNS Kada. Notably, under his leadership, NNS Kada undertook its maiden voyage from its country of construction, the United Arab Emirates, to Nigeria.

Commissioned into the Nigerian Navy in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Adoki also holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos and an MSc in Terrorism, Security and Policing from the University of Leicester, England.

He is currently pursuing a PhD in Defence and Security Studies at the National Defence Academy. He has received several medals in recognition of his distinguished service.

Welcoming the new commander, the Director General of NIMASA, Dayo Mobereola, expressed confidence in Adoki’s capacity to strengthen the agency’s maritime security framework.

He said the officer’s vast experience would enhance Nigeria’s maritime security architecture.

The Maritime Guard Command, domiciled within NIMASA, was established following a Memorandum of Understanding between the agency and the Nigerian Navy to boost operational efficiency in Nigeria’s territorial waters. The Command supports enforcement of maritime security, safety and regulatory compliance.

The announcement was made in a statement issued recently by Osagie Edward, Deputy Director and Head of Public Relations at NIMASA.
