The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) have embarked on a collaborative effort to drive innovations and technology development in Nigeria.
The partnership aims to leverage the expertise and skills of Nigerians in the diaspora and at home to build a stronger, more innovative Nigeria.
The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, highlighted the agency’s key projects, including Revolut, a payment platform, and the Innovation Hub and Incubation Programme, which funds Nigerian scientists and innovators.
He also mentioned Delta-2, a partnership with the Czech Republic to bring new technology and international collaboration to Nigeria.
Halilu and the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the partnership as a “timely intervention” that will connect Nigeria’s local innovators with scientists, engineers, technologists, and entrepreneurs in the diaspora.
Dabiri-Erewa assured that NiDCOM will provide relevant support, while suggesting that NASENI participate in the 8th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) in Abuja.
Both NASENI and NiDCOM have agreed to set up a joint working committee to streamline areas of collaboration and design projects focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), alongside wider diaspora engagement.
The partnership is expected to foster opportunities for Nigerians to work together for Nigeria’s progress.
