NPA Launches Clean-Up Operation to Boost Port Efficiency

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) recently embarked on a three-day clean-up and sensitization operation at the Lagos port corridors.

This initiative, tagged “NPA Security Clearance Operations 2025,” aims to eliminate security threats, congestion, and environmental hazards plaguing the ports.

The operation covers key areas, including the Tin Can Island Complex, Lagos Port Complex, Kirikiri Lighter Terminals I & II, and surrounding environs.

The clean-up operation seeks to clear out criminal elements, miscreants, and obstructions hindering traffic flow and safety, enhance security and efficiency in port operations, promote environmental sustainability, and maintain a safe port environment.

It also aims to support economic growth and trade facilitation. The NPA is working closely with the Lagos State Government and relevant security agencies to ensure the operation’s success.

The authority has also conducted awareness campaigns to sensitize stakeholders on the importance of the exercise.

NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, emphasized the authority’s commitment to achieving a safer, more secure, and environmentally friendly port environment. He urged the public to support and cooperate with the clean-up operation.

This initiative aligns with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) measures developed by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) to ensure port safety and security worldwide.

The NPA’s efforts aim to improve the overall efficiency of Nigeria’s ports and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
