VFD Group CEO, Nonso Okpala, Appointed as CSCS Board Member

Nonso Okpala, the Group Managing Director/CEO of VFD Group, has been appointed to the Board of Central Securities Clearing System Plc (CSCS), Nigeria’s premier Financial Market Infrastructure company.

With a background as a Senior Auditor at KPMG Professional Services (Nigeria) and later as the Director of Finance/CFO at Heirs Holdings Ltd, Nonso Okpala brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

He co-founded VFD Group 15 years ago, leading the company from an initial capital of 2.5 million Naira to a current asset value of over 200 billion Naira. Under his leadership, VFD Group has invested in over 40 businesses across diverse sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Nonso’s appointment to the CSCS Board comes on the heels of his previous appointment as a Non-Executive Director at the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc.

His presence on both boards is seen as crucial to the development and enhancement of market infrastructure and exchange business in Nigeria, a cause that VFD Group has been actively advocating for.

Known for his business turnaround capabilities, Nonso has successfully led eight capital raises for VFD Group, exceeding targets and building a reputable brand that has transitioned from listing on the National Association of Security Dealers (NASD) to the Nigeria Exchange Limited (NGX) in just four years.

His achievements were recognized with the “Equity Listing of the Year Award” at the Made of Africa Awards in December 2023.

In addition to his role at VFD Group, Nonso also serves as a Non-Executive Director at Abbey Mortgage Bank, the oldest Mortgage bank in Nigeria.

Under his guidance, the bank’s value has grown from 6 billion Naira to over 60 billion Naira, thanks to VFD Group’s investment and implementation of strong corporate governance practices.

Nonso Okpala’s appointment to the CSCS Board is expected to enhance the company’s governance structure, instilling confidence among investors and stakeholders in CSCS Plc’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance and accountability.
