Oborevwori’s Development Plan for Warri ‘ll Create Jobs, Attract Investments – Oghenesivbe

Delta state governor, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori’s inaugural speech gave him out as a pragmatic leader, who is ready and willing to upscale the scope of commercial activities in the state through multifaceted infrastructure development.

Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and Chairman, Coalition for Media Politics and Governance (CMPG), Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, expressed the opinion while speaking as a guest on a Radio and Television public affairs programme in Ughelli, and monitored across the state.

He said the governor’s planned focus on developing Warri as the commercial nerve of the state, will open up local and foreign investments, facilitate federal government attention in revamping Warri and Koko Ports.

The PDP Chieftain added that if Warri bounces back in commercial activities, it will create jobs and at the same time boost revenue earnings for the state and for the private sector players.

Regarding Agricultural sector, he noted that the immediate past governor, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, laid a good foundation, especially in oil palm produce and others ventures, which governor Oborevwori promised to build upon.

Consequently, Oghenesivbe advised the new government to inject funds into the sector through organized farmers cooperative societies across the state.

He said procurement of modern machineries and tools by government to assist farmers in mechanized farming will go a long way to boost the Agriculture sector in the state.

Oghenesivbe also advised the organized cooperative societies to ensure repayment of loans and/or grants for sustainable public-private partnership.

“The Youth Agriculture Entrepreneurship Programme (YAGEP) should be well funded to complement Farmers Cooperative societies efforts in the sector, as self sufficiency in food production is key to the prosperity and wellbeing of the people.” He said.

Speaking further, Oghenesivbe commended governor Oborevwori for directing petrol dealers and marketers in the state to maintain the status quo in pump price of fuel, so as not to inflict economic hardship and high cost of transportation on residents in the state before the actual commencement date of fuel subsidy removal.

He reassured the people that governor Oborevwori, being a caring leader with credibility, shall continue to do what’s necessary to advance Delta statebthrough his M.O.R.E agenda, for the good of the masses.

His words, “The inaugural address of our brand new Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, was remarkable and inspiring.

“More importantly, his promise to give Warri the needed prime attention in terms of infrastructure development to enhance commercial activities came at the right time.

“Developing Warri and it’s environs will not only create wealth and jobs, it will inject life into the city, attract local and direct foreign investments…

“Encourage the federal government to speedily revamp Warri and Koko Ports for massive imports and exports commercial activities that will also boost revenue earnings for the state and for private sector players.

“The inaugural address increased hope for a better tomorrow for all Deltans, and a pointer to the fact that governor Oborevwori is warming up to fulfil his electioneering campaigns promises to the good people of Delta State,” Oghenesivbe assured.
