Delta State Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, JP, has continue to receive dignitaries and people from all walks of life, coming to rejoice with him and the first family in waiting over his landslide victory at the polls on March 18.

The stream of visitors and wide spread jubilation across the twenty five Local Government Areas of the state, according to political.analysts, point to show that the Governor-Elect and his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, genuinely and deservingly got the Peoples mandate in tandem with universal Democratic principles.

It’s in the light of the above that some patriotic governorship candidate of opposition parties in the state also paid congratulatory visits to Delta Incoming Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, namely Chief Great Ogboru of APGA and Engr Goodnews Goodman Agbi of the NNPP, among others.

These core democrats and gallant losers in the just concluded Delta governorship election summed up courage, embraced good conscience to accept the clean defeat. History will be fair to them as genuine and selfless contestants and shall continue to earn the respect of all Deltans.

Recently, the collective royal seal of recognition and general acceptance by Communities, Dukedoms and kingdoms in the state was placed on the incoming administration.

Delta State Traditional Rulers Council led by the Chairman, His Imperial Majesty, Major General Felix Mujakperuo, Rtd, Orue 1, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, expressed absolute confidence in the unique visionary leadership of Delta Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Oborevwori, the Ukodo of Okpe Kingdom.

The Traditional Rulers Council leadership during their congratulatory visit to the Governor-Elet in Asaba, noted that Elder Oborevwori’s enviable performance and achievements as the longest serving speaker in the state, attests to his visible commitments to sound work ethics, prudent management of resources, team work strategies and dedication to legislative business, describing him as the best of all the governorship candidates in the just concluded Guber election.

The Royal fathers from the three Senatorial Districts in the state assured the incoming governor of the same unalloyed support they gave Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration’s policies and programmes, adding that Okowa is a perfect leader and a child of divine grace.

In his response, Governor-Elect, Elder Oborevwori assured the royal fathers that no ethnic nationality will be neglected throughout the life span of his administration in the state, adding that openness, inclusiveness, transparency, accountability and prudent management of resources will be strictly adhered to under his watch.

Rt Hon Oborevwori who was full of gratitude over the visit of the traditional rulers, acknowledged that the contest for who succeeds governor Okowa was tough, as in real electioneering battle, but that the support of Deltans for him and PDP was organic, impressive, overwhelming and it brought joy at the end of it all.

The incoming governor further assured Delta Monarchs that he shall be governor for all Deltans, irrespective of religion, ethnic nationality and political divide in his quest to advance Delta with his M.O.R.E agenda.

He promise to listen more, do more and achieve more for the state, while urging the royal fathers to ensure peace in their geographical jurisdictions for the sustenance of peaceful coexistence, which is an integral part of good governance.

Oborevwori stated that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of unrest and rancor, and appealed that the peace which the out-going administration of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa enjoyed and still enjoying be extended to him when he assume office on May 29, this year

He told the monarchs that his story is like that of the divinely anointed David in the Bible, who was chosen by God while tendering his father’s flock, favoured to be King in the midst of his handsome brothers, thanking God for His unfailing love and grace upon his life and family.

“I have learnt so much from the State governor and our leader, His Excellency, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, including humility, meekness, patience, tolerance, et al.

“I shall work closely with the state traditional rulers council, seek your advise, suggestions and inputs from time to time, because good governance is a joint responsibility between government and the governed in constitutional democracy,” Oborevwori said.

The climax of the visit was the series of royal blessings and prayers offered the Governor-Elect by Delta Monarchs who, according to Oborevwori, “are the pillars of our Communities”

The traditional kings strongly believe that H.E. Oborevwori will do well as governor of Delta State, upon taking over the mantle of leadership from Gov Okowa on May 29, this year.
