Document Forgery: EFCC Arrests Fani-Kayode In Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has been arrested by in Lagos over alleged forgery and manipulation of documents

Vanguard reports that the former minister, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in September, was brought to the Lagos Zonal Office of the anti-graft Agency on Tuesday, having been under investigation for the alleged offence.

According to the report, EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, has confirmed Fani-Kayode’s arrest. “I think something like that happened,” he said and declined to comment further.

Fani-Kayode had been having a running battle with the EFCC for some time was once remanded for 67 days in 2016 alongside a former minister of finance, Nenadi Usman. They were facing a 17-count of criminal conspiracy, fraud and money laundering to the tune of N4.9 billion.

The accused persons have, however, denied the allegations and were later granted N250 million bail.
