Dangote Cement Launches100 Billion CFA Francs Plant in Côte d’Ivoire, Boosting Regional Economy

Dangote Cement, a subsidiary of the Nigerian conglomerate Dangote Group, has officially commissioned its new cement plant in Attingué, Côte d’Ivoire.

The state-of-the-art facility, which spans 50 hectares and has an annual production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes, is a strategic investment of 100 billion CFA francs.

The plant is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, supporting youth employment and stimulating local SMEs.

Dangote Cement Côte d’Ivoire Managing Director, Serge Gbotta, said the plant is a symbol of confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s future and will provide Ivorians with world-class cement, produced locally and offered at competitive prices.

The Attingué plant will produce premium cement in multiple grades, positioning Dangote Cement as a trusted partner in Côte d’Ivoire’s construction industry.

The facility is designed to significantly reduce cement imports and establish Côte d’Ivoire as a regional hub for cement production and export.

Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation, production, and progress for future generations.

“Africa is full of opportunities,” he said. “Our mission is to tell a new story—one of innovation, production, and progress for future generations.”

The company has also announced plans to launch training programs for young engineers and technicians through the Dangote Academy, aimed at enhancing local expertise in industrial management.

Additionally, Dangote Cement is committed to community initiatives around the Attingué site, including road construction, clean water projects, and support for local health centers.

The launch of the Attingué plant marks a significant milestone for Dangote Cement, which now operates in 11 African countries with a continental capacity of 55 million tonnes per year.

The company’s investment in Côte d’Ivoire is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy and contribute to its growth and development.
