Benue NYSC Coordinator Urges Corps Members to Leverage SAED Skills for Post-Service Employment

By Prosper Okoye.

The Benue State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Veronica Garba, has encouraged corps members to apply the skills they acquired through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to create employment opportunities for themselves and contribute to national development.

Garba made the call during the 2025 Batch A Stream II inter-platoon exhibition and competition held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.

She commended the corps members’ creativity and encouraged them to remain focused and committed to continuous improvement, emphasizing that discipline and commitment are crucial for business growth.

The event featured an exhibition of various skills acquired by corps members during their SAED training, including paint production, 3D design, solar installation, aluminium fabrication, and more.

Winners emerged in various categories, and the Camp Director and Head of the SAED programme, Pupshit James Sumput, advised corps members to perfect their skills and share their knowledge with others.

The SAED programme, introduced in 2012, aims to tackle youth unemployment by equipping corps members with practical skills for entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency.

By leveraging these skills, corps members can create their own employment opportunities and contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.
