Global Recognition: MIPAD Honors Onyeali-Ikpe as Top 100 Trade Champion of African Descent Worldwide

Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, has been named among the honorees in the 2024 Most Influential Global Top 100 Export and International Trade Edition for her remarkable impact on global trade.

The initiative, themed “Championing the Vision of Global Africa as a Unified Economic Block and Single Market,” was announced on May 25, 2024, in celebration of Global Africa Day.

It recognizes several leaders of African descent in the global trade space, including Prof. Benedict Okey Oramah, President of African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank); H.E. Kamel Rezig, Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Algeria;

Other recognised leaders are: Togbe Afede, Chairman of World Trade Centre Accra, Ghana; Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, Nigerian Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Nonye Ayeni, Executive Director and CEO of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (Nigeria).

Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice President of Intra-African Trade Bank (IATB); Kemi Arosanyin, Director of Trade Development (Africa & Caribbean) at World Trade Centre Miami, US; Kemi Badenoch, Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade (United Kingdom/Nigeria);

Kendra Gaither, President of US-Africa Business Centre at US Chamber of Commerce; and Milady Garces Arboleda, President of the Buenaventura Chamber of Commerce (Colombia).

The Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) stated that these honorees are recognized for their groundbreaking achievements in Trade & Export and are tasked with championing the vision of a unified Global Africa as an economic block.

This recognition aligns with the ethos of the International Decade for People of African Descent, showcasing MIPAD’s commitment to celebrating individuals, organizations, and governments driving progress for people of African descent globally.

Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe expressed her gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing Fidelity Bank’s leadership in the international trade space and dedication to supporting Nigerian businesses in the global trade arena.

She highlighted the bank’s successful hosting of the Fidelity International Trade and Creative Connect (FITCC) expo since 2022, which has facilitated deals totaling $450 million and brought together key stakeholders in the trade sector.

Fidelity Bank, ranked as one of the best banks in Nigeria, serves over 8.3 million customers through its 251 business offices in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, as well as digital banking channels.

The bank has received numerous local and international awards, including Export Finance Bank of the Year at the 2023 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, Best Payment Solution Provider Nigeria 2023, Best SME Bank Nigeria 2022 by the Global Banking and Finance Awards.

Fidelity was also awarded Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria by the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2023, and Best Domestic Private Bank in Nigeria by the Euromoney Global Private Banking Awards 2023.
