The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, recently led his team on a visit to the Headquarters of Huawei, a renowned information and communications technology company in Shenzhen, China.
The purpose of the visit was to explore opportunities within the Nigeria Customs Service Trade Modernization Project.
This visit to Huawei Headquarters was part of the CGC’s official trip to the People’s Republic of China for the 6th Global AEO Conference held in Shenzhen from Wednesday, May 8, to Friday, May 10, 2024.
During the visit, Adeniyi expressed his delight in collaborating with Huawei on the Trade Modernization Project, emphasizing the importance of associating with a global leader in technology services.
In a previous engagement at the Huawei Connect 2023 event in Shanghai, the Nigeria Customs Service had expressed interest in utilizing Huawei’s latest products for their trade modernization project.
Adeniyi urged Huawei to continue providing digitalization services to NCS and requested their support in maintaining a successful partnership for the transformative journey ahead.
Vice President of Smart Transportation at Huawei, Xujing Xu, welcomed the NCS delegation and expressed confidence in the collaboration, highlighting the progress already made towards transformation.
Chairman of the Trade Modernization Project Limited, Saleh Ahmadu, commended Huawei for their commitment to delivering on their mandate and thanked the CGC and his team for their support in the project’s success.
To further enhance NCS modernization efforts, the CGC and the TMP team visited Lantan Port to witness the automation and technological solutions provided by Huawei and other tech partners.
Additionally, a training program on Trends and Digital Solutions for Customs officials and the TMP team was conducted by Huawei to equip them with the necessary skills for navigating the digital landscape of modern trade.
Furthermore, a training session on Business Management with the theme “The Journey of Huawei’s Continuous Growth” was organized to enhance the capacity of NCS officials in managing trade facilitation in Nigeria.
Overall, the visit to Huawei Headquarters and Lantan Port showcased the commitment of Nigeria Customs to modernizing trade processes and leveraging technology for efficient operations
